The Redistribution Committee is required to place notices in the Gazette and Territory newspapers inviting public suggestions on proposed electoral boundaries (Electoral Act). To assist in preparing suggestions, the Committee makes available maps of current electoral boundaries and the latest enrolment figures. Interested persons or organisations wishing to make suggestions regarding the redistribution are given 30 days after the Gazette notice to forward suggestions, in writing, to the Committee.

After the closing date for suggestions, the Committee makes all suggestions available for public inspection, free of charge, at the Electoral Commission's offices and on this website. The Committee then places notices in the Gazette and Territory newspapers inviting the public to comment on the suggestions, giving interested persons or organisations 14 days after publication of the Gazette notice to forward their comments in writing to the Committee (Electoral Act s142).

The Committee will consider all suggestions and comments before it prepares its proposed redistribution of the Territory into divisions.
